Children love coming to the Park Point Marina Inn, Duluth’s award winning waterfront hotel which is located just 1 block away from the Park Point Beach, offering miles of sand beach for swimming and sandcastle building. The resort’s Breakwater Pier Walk allows children to watch all the ships entering and leaving the harbor while enjoying a picnic. The United States Coast Guard Station is right next door to the Park Point Marina Inn and its 225 foot ice cutter ship, the Alder, always enchants children. Bicycles are available for the rent from the Concierge Service Center and are a popular choice for going down the Lakewalk. Ladder golf and horseshoes provide outdoor entertainment. Ice cream is always available in the 24 hour gift shop to make sure all of the children, ages 5-75 are happy campers. They’ll be able to watch migratory birds and harbor wildlife, and possibly see our resident duck family who swim in our patio-side pond on occasion.
Our indoor family recreation center offers an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, and arcade games to splash around in, or play on.
The complimentary evening resort shuttle will drop you off in the summer right next to the Port Town Trolley (June-August), which is a children’s favorite and a very inexpensive way to put a smile on your child’s face, as they ride around in a historic looking street car for 50 cents. On the trolley you can get dropped off in front of The Depot, Bayfront Park, a Coney Island restaurant, or an iron ore ship to tour. We have a direct shuttle to the Jingle Bus and Bentleyville every December. This is an all-time children’s fantasy event that every child should experience once in their lives whether with their parents or grandparents.
Children can cast a fishing line with a bobber from the Breakwater Pier Walk and fish for walleye, sunfish, and crappies.
For breakfast we have children’s favorites such as fruit whirls cereal, hot chocolate, Hershey’s syrup, donut holes, waffles with butter, strawberries, and maple syrup.
Cross over the bridge from ordinary to Duluth’s Waterfront Hotel and have your children discover our resort right in Duluth’s backyard.
